Up, up and away...
Paragliding is the free-form version of hangliding, and perhaps the easiest way to experience flying through the air without an engine - in relative safety. The equipment is nicely compact, folding up into a relatively light backpack. There are several paragliding schools in the breezy Namur area, where equipment can be hired and typical beginner's courses last 4-5 days.
For experienced practitioners, the Belgian Paragliding Federation (www.fbvl.be) can recommend a number of suitable sites around La Roche-en-Ardennes and Coo, where the scenery is as breathtaking as the experience of falling to earth with the flimsiest of support above your head.
