Brussels rolls out the barrel - August 30 – September 2
If there’s one thing the Belgians know how to do well, it’s brewing beer.
For 3 days, the Grand’ Place, in the heart of Brussels, will be taken over by a massive beer festival. Over 200 beers will be on offer, ranging from the “classic grand crus”, and the famous, Chimay Trappist monks' amber nectar to more modest, locally-brewed beers from around the country, including the stangely named McChouffe, weighing in at a hefty 8.5.% alc vol, from the Brasserie d’Achouffe in the Belgian Ardennes, Silly Pils from the de Silly brewery and Bush Blonde from Dubisson.
Everything related to the world of beer: beer mugs, cookery books, books on beer and T-shirts, will be on sale from the “Beer Shop”.
The weekend isn’t just for beer lovers; jazz bands will play throughout the weekend to give the festival a party atmosphere and activities for children have been planned to keep the non-drinkers happy.
The Holy Grail of beer drinkers, the Brewers Museum, is just a short stagger away from the festival on the Grand’Place.
