The Dominican****
Design, located in the historic centre in the rue Léopold, behind the La Monnaie opera house. The building was originally built as a Dominican abbey in the fifteenth century, from which it derives its name.
150 rooms in 3 categories: “Deluxe”, “Executive” or “Loft” plus 3 suites. All the rooms overlook a central courtyard, concentrating on the intimacy of the centre of the building. From €150 (£ 104) to €1,450 (£1,000).
The high ceilings and cloister-style lay-out recall the fifteenth-century Dominican abbey.
The building was also the home of the famous painter Jacques-Louis David, who completed his great “Mars Disarmed by Venus” here shortly before his death in 1825. The house’s original facade has been incorporated into the design of the new hotel.
The interiors are the work of the German design duo FGStijl, winners of the prestigious “Prix Villegiature-Paris” interior design prize in 2005.
